FR Application: Ren Mizushima

Ren might come off as quiet, reserved, and otherwise just a normal person to those who just meet her. However, all that is thrown out the window once you get to know her. Ren may be easy going, but she's also mischievous - sometimes flat out malicious when she deals with people. She likes chaos, she likes causing trouble, and she absolutely hates the idea of dealing with a dull moment. To those who think she doesn't speak, they're quick to learn once they get to know her that she doesn't shut the fuck up. With her easily excitable and to distract nature, she ends up droning on and on about pointless shit. Of course, until she gets bored and decides what escapade she can take part of next.

While she can be downright obnoxious at some points, Ren does enjoy the thought of making friends - although mainly for the idea of having someone to fuck shit up and get smashed with.  She's a pretty selfish person, and only really thinks about others when it benefits herself. Ren does have some sense of compassion and loyalty, but it's very small. She won't cheat on partners, and she sure as hell won't with her gang, but she might end up putting a bat to an old ladies knees....

Ren was a child that grew up in a very strict but very loving family. Her parents only had one child, and they wanted to make sure she was the safest she could be. With that, it led to a lot of trouble for a young Ren. While they lived around the Oki Islands of Japan, she was never allowed to visit the islands or anywhere else. Her parents often told her horror stories - of how humans and pollution made it difficult to even breathe up there. As a little girl, Ren respected her parents and listened...but as she grew older? Her curiosity got the better of her.

At the age of thirteen, Ren decided to sneak off and test out her land legs. After nearly beaching herself and suffocating, she finally managed to walk on two legs and meet the locals. Despite the odd mannerisms, she actually managed to make conversation with the friendly people! It was pleasant, but soon the mermaid got scared away by one of the fishermen who made very sour comments about her appearance. Going on about how she'd be better for sushi than for standing around.

After her scare, Ren had decided to return home to her family - only to find that they were furious with her behavior. How dare she leave them? To go on land without their permission? The mermaid apologized fiercely for her actions, but she still harbored the want to explore the world. So after debating with herself for two years, she had slowly decided that she didn't need to listen to her parents concerns.

When Ren hit fifteen, she had decided she was done with being sheltered, that she was going to enjoy life without restraint. So she swam far away from home, only stopping once she reached the shore of the gang infested city. After a few months of confusion, learning the language, and attempting to use her legs more properly - Ren ventured further on the surface. As she spent her time on land, she learned her passions - such as dancing and fighting. Although the latter was what she got into a little later.

After training in dance for a while, Ren noticed that the town was run by four different factions. It was weird, but she was driven to the power dynamic. Gangs ran the town, so if she joined a gang, wouldn't she be part of that? At the age of eighteen, Ren decided to go to find out for herself. Weighing her options, she eventually settled on the one that was most appealing - the one that involved hitting shit with blunt objects.

Soon Ren found herself in a completely different world. Drugs, alcohol, violence - two of which just made her absolutely giddy. She found something fun, found where she belonged. So she stuck around, and plans to keep around for as long as they'll let her.

- Ren will pretty much eat anything that has fish.

- One of Ren's abilities is being omnilingual. Basically she can learn languages by ear or taking it from the native speaker via mouth contact.

- Ren has webbed fingers and toes!

- Her gills are located just around her ribs. They're very sensitive, so touching them is off limits.

- She absolutely despises pools with chlorine in it. It causes her lungs to burn and her skin to itch.

- While she can switch between her humanoid and merform at will, spilling large amounts of water on her can force her to regain her fishy tail if she doesn't have it already.

- Has a love hate relationship with alcohol. On one hand it makes her dehydrated, on the other it makes her drunk. She likes the other hand.

- Ren cannot sing, but she absolutely adores dancing. Part of the reason why she became a dance instructor in the first place.
